Job Description

Position:              Global Process Technology, SeniorR&D Process Engineer

Location:             Victaulic World HeadquartersEaston, PA

Scope: Lead Research and Development activities toevaluate current and future manufacturing processes and materials and/orperformance improvement projects for optimization.  Duties may also include leading thedevelopment of processes or new materials to ensure quality, cost andefficiency requirements are met.  Ensurethat best practices are leveraged at all of our global facilities with respectto manufacturing processes. In addition, manage advanced level failure analysesfor warranty claims and material failures. Manage our materials evaluationslaboratory.



1.            Lead new process development andadvanced technology process improvement efforts at all of our globalmanufacturing and/or R&D facilities.

2.            Provideproject management and financial analysis for new processes and capitalinvestments.

3.            Actively manage product / processreviews and metallurgical analysis’ related to warranty claims/customercomplaints.  Manage the execution offailure analyses.

4.            Providecontinuous support of Victaulic’s Product Delivery System implementation.

5.            Actively participate in productdesign reviews focused on Advanced Quality Planning, process FMEA’s, mistakeproofing and other quality improvement methods.

6.            Lead the development and maintenanceof internal and external technical data packages to include testing andmeasurement methodologies.

7.            Implement and manage “brainstormingsession” protocols that will be used to conduct routine product reviews throughaudits of the related manufacturing processes. Actively coordinate and execute sessions.

8.            Aggressivelyseek new technologies for automating processes to include in-processinspections.

9.            Performand analyze the results of process simulation modeling software.

10.          Manage thematerials evaluation laboratory at MTC

11.          Perform special projects as assignedby the Director, Global Quality and Process Technology and/or Manager, GlobalProcess Technology.

12.          Specific policies and procedures havebeen established by the Engineering Department to provide for the security andaccessibility of electronic data and confidential information. It is theresponsibility of the employee, in the daily course of doing business, tofollow said policies as they relate to document management. Theextent to which departmental research and development information is storedelectronically has vastly increased, and will continue to do so. The newFederal rules pertaining to electronic discovery stipulate that substantiveemail communications constituted "records" under the Federal RecordsAct. It is therefore the responsibility of each departmental employee tounderstand their role in communicating via e-mails and that all e-mails must bewritten / responded to in a professional manner.

Job Requirements


1.            MS Engineering degree required,preferably Mechanical or Materials Engineering.

2.            5-7 years experience in amanufacturing, engineering environment or post-doctoral environment.

3.            Knowledge of green sand casting,investment casting, chemically bonded sand casting, metal forming technologiesor elastomeric molding a plus.

4.            Familiarity with statisticaltechniques using Mini Tab /SPC/Graphing.

5.            Mastery of problem solving techniques.

6.            Proficient in the use of electronicsystems and software (MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, Solid works, Mini Tab,ProCast, etc.).

7.            Knowledge of Victaulic product lineis beneficial.

8.            Bilingual skills a plus

9.            Good written and oral communicationskills.

10.          Working knowledge of metrology andmeasuring equipment.

11.          Able to work independently withoutdirect supervisory assistance.

12.          Able to travel globally, as required.
