Job Description


TheStrategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing the assigned categoryportfolio and associated activities. This includes but is not limited to maximizing supplier performance,supporting new product development (NPI), leading cost savings and avoidanceprojects, and other Sourcing related activities.  She/he will lead negotiations of purchasingagreements and other contracts which include pricing, terms and conditions,risk mitigations, and warranties. 


TheStrategic Sourcing Specialist will develop, implement, and manage globalstrategies to provide values in supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, qualityand delivery performance.  They benchmarknew processes, approaches, technology that provide improvements and value thatVictaulic can utilize.  The Strategic Sourcing Specialistresearches, identifies and analyzes current and emerging procurement trends,develops a deep understanding of market conditions and develops proposed globalsupply chain solutions focusing on total cost of ownership.

Category Management:
  1. Manageall areas of category management including category business plans, globalmarket and pricing analysis andprocurement support.
  2. Contribute to developmentof the company's strategic category objectives and goals.
  3. Develop global categorystrategies with defined plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigationand service level agreements.
  4. Developand execute Category negotiation strategies with suppliers, including specifictargets for pricing, service, quality, intellectual property, tool ownership,exclusivity and inventory.
  5. Monitorcurrent category market conditions, technology roadmaps and identifysupply/demand challenges& opportunities.
  6. Becomea subject matter expert in assigned commodities through external research, benchmarkingand analyzing cost drivers and life cycle costs. Provide market intelligenceand category price trends. Develop deep understanding where our competitionsources their components and materials, as well as determining the respectivecosts of same.   
  7. Assistin the development and maintenance of should-cost models that are relevant tothe global marketplace.
Sourcing Management:
  1. Utilizestrategic sourcing process to manage assigned categories and finished productsfor multiple locations of Victaulic and subsidiaries. Identify all stakeholdersfor each major category and form cross-functional team to define and implementstrategy that reduces cost, improves quality and delivery performance andimproves Victaulic’s competitive position. Build case for significant changeand develop consensus among key stakeholders.
  2. Providerigorous analysis of spend data and market trends and dynamics to prioritizeand launch sourcing initiatives within designated spend/category categories
  3. Analyzecurrent spend and evaluate current suppliers. Consolidate spend across multiplemanufacturing locations to create leverage, analyze purchasing trends anddevelop sourcing alternatives. Identify new high potential suppliers on globalbasis.
  4. Deliver5% year over year net cost reductions for commodities and program that fallwithin assigned responsibility. 
  5. Managerespective supplier relationships and performance, including but not limited todispute resolution.
KPI’s Or Metrics:
  1. Developkey performance measures for chosen suppliers and negotiate on multiplevariables to award longer-term strategic contracts that result in significantcost reduction and improved service levels.
Project Management:
  1. Supportnew product introduction (NPI) programs as Program Manager by coordinating allsourcing and supplier qualification activities on a global basis.
  2. Managemultiple projects, coordinate activities of team and track progress/schedules.
  3. Monitorcurrent category market conditions, technology roadmaps and identifysupply/demand challenges and opportunities.
  4. Participateon special projects in Sourcing area as appropriate.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:    (Education, Experience, and PersonalAttributes)

  1. Bachelordegree (preferred in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management)from an accredited college or university is required. OR relevant workexperience
  2. Minimumof 2 years of relevant, progressive Strategic Sourcing, Category Management orequivalent work experience and expertise.
  3. Demonstratedknowledge of strategic sourcing process and tools and their application inrestructuring purchases of a Global Supply Chain and Global Multi-plantmanufacturing business.
  4. Trackrecord of delivering significant cost reduction and service level improvements.
  5. Expertisein negotiation of long term contracts with safeguards against identified risks.
  6. Abilityto identify key performance measures and evaluate alternatives.
  7. Demonstratedability to build and lead teams attaining cross-functional consensus.  
  8. Excellentcommunication skills at all levels – clearly articulate position with clarityat all levels of the organization.
  9. Abilityto work with key stakeholders in multiple global locations and at variouslevels.
  10. Stronganalytical problem solving abilities through the use of contemporary tools andmethods
