Job Description

Position:         SeniorMechanical Designer - Technical Lead

Location:        EngineeringDepartment; Engineering Design

Reports to:     Director, Product Development

Scope:             Responsiblefor the successful coordination, implementation, and execution of EngineeringDesign projects, and support of assigned personnel in all aspects of theproject.  Engineering Design projectsinclude the development of new products, revised products, tools, and in-houseproduction equipment for Victaulic and its subsidiaries, literature support, andany relevant departmental needs. Coordination applies anywhere in the lifecycle of a product and includesall aspects of the product, product data, and graphical requirements, workassignments, resource management, processes and standards enforcement, trainingand mentoring.

In addition to the responsibilitiesoutlined by the Senior Mechanical Designer job description, responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:

1.                 Provide collective technical andoperational leadership for Engineering Design (e.g., management of documents,hardware, software, and mentoring of associates).

2.                 Ensure support through the Work Ordersystem as related to the Engineering Design department to address work in anexpeditious fashion.

3.                 Consult IT for the operational setupand maintenance of the document management system (e.g., workflows, storagestructure, data cards, and overall handling of documents) in addition to any ITrelated decision for general support of the department.

4.                 Recommend and setup/manage applicationspecific settings related to CAE software (e.g., templates, blocks, tables,hole wizard, materials database, file mapping).

5.                 Provide written feedback toward theprofessional development of associates.

6.                 Oversee Best Practice activities suchas identifying areas for improvement initiating/chairing meetings, authoring/approvingof Best Practice documents (e.g., work instructions, reference sheets).

Job Requirements


1.            AssociatesDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work-related experience.

2.            MinimumFive (5) years of design experience.

3.            Extendedknowledge of engineering design practices/principles (e.g., interferencechecks, fits, tolerance stack-up calculations/dimensional analysis, GD &T).

4.            Excellentorganization skills.

5.            ProficientCAD skills related to the creation of 2D drawings and 3D solid and assemblymodels.

6.            Abilityto work independently with minimal direction.

7.            Understandingof a change control system.

8.            Proficient/Expertknowledge and application of departmental Best Practices at all levels ofparticipation.
