Job Description

Position Title:  Manufacturing Engineer

Position Type:Salaried Exempt

Location (Facility):  Atlanta Manufacturing

Reports to (Position Title):  Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:

1.    Review and interpret drawings, jobspecifications and customer documentation to ensure proper product design thatwill satisfy project and/or contractual requirements.

2.    Perform all necessary engineeringcalculations to verify validity and safety of product designs.

3.    Develop, maintain and enhance productestimating and design software/spreadsheets.

4.    Prepare bills of material and shopdrawings required for manufacturing.

5.    Process manufacturing work orders andprepare production documentation using custom design spreadsheet programs andthe Visual Mfg. ERP system.

6.    Provide technical product assistance whenrequired.  Support project coordination/engineeredproducts/sales departments through preparation of documentation such as productspecific engineering submittal drawings and restraint ring weld data sheets.

7.    Produce and maintain product and partdrawings using drawing design software.

8.    Participate in and/or lead the leanmanufacturing, 5S and facilities excellence programs/initiatives as requiredand assigned.

9.    Learn operation and programming ofautomated/robotic equipment; develop and maintain programs and/or operatingfiles required for their use.

10.  Aidin the optimization of equipment utilization and work flow with emphasis onefficiency improvements in the manufacturing processes.

11.  Developreports by pulling data from databases using programs like QlikView.

Job Requirements

Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes):

1.     B.S. degree in civil, mechanical or industrial engineering.

2.     Familiarity with basic engineering principles and strong mathematical ability; solid understanding of geometry and trigonometry is required.

3.     Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite is required.  Working knowledge in computer aided design/drawing software such as SolidWorks and/or CorelDraw would be beneficial but AutoCAD is a must.

4.     Strong verbal and written communication skills.

5.     Detail oriented and analytical.

6.     Quick learner and self-motivated; possess ability to promptly accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.

7.     Familiarity with AWWA specifications and ASTM standards as relevant to the piping and coupling industry would be beneficial.

8.     Should possess a general knowledge of steel fabrication techniques and properties of materials.

9.     Familiarity with automation and robotic programming would be beneficial.

10.  Familiarity with database management would be beneficial.
