Job Description

Position:                   LabAssociate

Location:                  EngineeringLaboratory

Reports to:               TechnicalLead


Work in Victaulic’s Engineering Labs, performing all functions necessary tomaintain raw and processed material inventory levels. This includes properstorage of incoming material and recycling of unwanted material. As required,assist the technical staff.


1.   Asdirected, perform inventory control of Lab raw materials. This includes but isnot limited to:

a.   Boxesboth incoming and outgoing shall be handled and maintained in the digitaldatabase of inventoried items on a daily basis. Coordinate with logistics teamfor offsite storage box handling, per established process.

b.   Pipestock inventory shall be organized and minimum stocking levels of pipe will becontrolled by the inventory system.

c.   Recycleunwanted materials.

2.   Usethe Engineering lab’s material handling equipment to move, inventory, store,and maintain all incoming and outgoing material on a daily basis.

3.   Maintainall material handling equipment including routine cleaning of forklifts, andother various lab equipment as assigned.

4.   Followall company safety requirements and procedures.

The followingresponsibilities are as-needed to maintain workflow continuity:

1.   Preparepipe for assembly: operate various equipment, such as plasma cutting equipment,cut-off saw, drill press, and belt sander, as necessary.

2.   Set up and operate allVictaulic grooving tools; groove pipe as required for technical staff; Cleanand maintain grooving tools when used.

3.   Prepare batches of product samples, as required.  Can include painting, assembly, etc.

4.   Maintainrecords and logs.

5.   Specificpolicies and procedures have been established by the Engineering Department toprovide for the security and accessibility of electronic data and confidentialinformation. It is the responsibility of the employee, in the daily course ofdoing business, to follow said policies as they relate to document management(see EOG-26). The extent to which departmental research and developmentinformation is stored electronically has vastly increased, and will continue todo so. The new Federal rules pertaining to electronic discovery stipulate thatsubstantive email communications constituted "records" under theFederal Records Act. It is therefore the responsibility of each departmentalemployee to understand their role in communicating via e-mails and that alle-mails must be written/responded to ina professional manner, as outlined in EOG-26.



Job Requirements


1.    Associate and/or technical degreepreferred

2.    Mechanical aptitude and highorganizational skills

3.    Proficient in the use of computers, toinclude all applicable inventory software.

4.   Capableof assisting in the performance of all Laboratory functions.

5.   Capableof taking verbal and written instructions.

6.   Validdriver’s license and willingness to travel.

7.   Preferredbut not required: Proficient in blueprint reading, shop math and precisioninstrument operation (measurement instruments such as calipers, diametermeasuring tapes, etc).
