Job Description


The Buyer is a key member of the purchasing division and is responsible for the analysis of customer orders, implementation of quality, cost containment and performance strategies, in addition to inventory control and a solid understanding of customs compliance issues


Supply Chain:

  • Utilize strategic sourcing process to manage assigned commodities and finished products
  • Implement strategies that reduce cost, improve quality and delivery performances, and the company’s competitive position
  • Experience in global supply chain management
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing, distribution and logistics - Supplier integration in total company supply chain
  • Participate / lead special projects in sourcing area
  • Understanding of customs compliance requirements - NAFTA and importation rules for globally sourced vendors
  • Experience in inventory management and measurements
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries for material and services required for plant and office operations
  • Analyze requisitions and specifications to determine required quantities and delivery dates and communicate technical and logistical requirements to vendors
  • Resolve problems and discrepancies with quality, delivery dates, quantity, and invoicing of purchased commodities

Job Requirements



  • Post-secondary education
  • Certification as a practitioner in purchasing from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada an asset
  • CPIM designation an asset
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience with BPCS an asset


  • 3-5 years’ experience in Purchasing, Material Control, or related fields
  • Experience in global supply chain management an asset
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing, distribution and logistics an asset
