Job Description

POSITION:                          Buyer / Planner I or II – Supply Chain

LOCATION:                         Victaulic, World Headquarters – Easton, PA


Responsibilities:

1.      Efficiently manage the assignedgroup of items and suppliers to deliver the best inventory turns whilemaintaining a high level of customer service.

1A.    Is intimate with problem solving skills and is comfortable leading a Team. (Buyer Planner II)


2.    Uses available inventoryreplenishment methods and practices to insure minimum Dead and Slow and scrapInventory and maximum availability of inventory for active items.  Including strategic inventory hedge buildsand New Product Introduction support.

3.    Develops and manages the various data-bases to insuresystems work smoothly.

•             Kanban

•             MRP

•             Wait-Worksheets

•             SafetyStock

•             BPCS/CIC/BPA

•             Lead-times


3A. Has demonstrated successful experience in Kanban, VMI, Consignment implementation. (Buyer/Planner II)

4.   Proficient in Expediting suppliersand logistics and is familiar with Impact order management.  Escalates when necessary.

5.    Knows how to practice Lead-Timesuppression and alert to removing waste from the process (lean).

6.  Can manage tactical duties with Suppliers and report outon Supplier Performance.

6A.   Acts as trainer/mentor for new Buyer/Planners. (Buyer/Planner II)

6B.   Sufficiently understands and compiles all reports for The Purchasing Team. (Buyer/Planner II)

7.      Is Customer Service driven.

8.      Knows how to establish safety stock positions, beststocking locations and to re-size Kanbans

9.      Knows how to resolve problems anddiscrepancies with quality, delivery dates, quantity and invoicing of purchasedcommodities - 360 degree material planning.

10.     Owns the tactical day-to-day supplier relationship.

11.     Skilled at harvesting and shepherdingnew cost-down and new sources to deliver savings to the company.  Pushing this information to the necessaryowners (ex. Commodity Managers, Regional Sourcing Managers) and monitoring tocompletion or exhaustion.

12.          Participate in and use QualityImprovement Process in resolving problems in the work environment.

13.          Works well in a team environment – knows several problemsolving techniques.

13A.        Actively pursues and engages in projects/process improvement opportunities.   

14.          Evening and weekend communication withoverseas team members or suppliers occasionally required.



Job Requirements

Qualifications:   (Education, Experience, Personal Attributes)

1.                 Minimum Bachelor’sDegree (Buyer/Planner I); Bachelor's Degree (4 yrs) -Buyer/Planner II

1A.       Completed or working towards Master's Degree or Supply Chain Certification. (Buyer/Planner II)

1B.       6 Sigma trained or Certified (Black or Green Belt) - Buyer/Planner II 

2.                 CPIMpreferred

3.                 Minimum3 years of experience in Purchasing, Material Control or Related Fields. 

3A.      Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Material Control or Related Fields with at least 2 years in Victaulic Supply Chain. (Buyer/Planner II)

4.                 Stronganalytical problem solving ability.

5.                 Proficientin MS Office

5A.       In depth knowledge of ERP and/or material planning system required (BPCS and/or M3) - Buyer/Planner II

6.                 Goodoral and written communications skills.

7.                 Willingto make infrequent overnight travel.
